Re: Small CP train of Allentejo: building instructions
Part list:
B600
- 4 Märklin wagon wheelsets
- 2 M1 6mm countersunk screws
- 2 M1.2 0.5mm thick washers
Gklm
- 2 Märklin wagon wheelsets
1100
- 1 shorty motor unit (better the shinkansen type)
- 1 Micromotor.eu 615S. motor
- 1 08 id 1.0 od brass tube (Albion Alloys)
Building instructions:
B-600:
1) snap wheelsets into bogies, make sure they roll freely
2) screw bogies into chassis the chassis columns (washer between bogie and chassis column)
3) insert chassis into shell
Gklm
1) snap wheelsets into conical bearings
1100
1) remove all parts from shorty. Cut thin copper wires from PCB. Preserve thin copper wires connected to geared bogie
2) remove worm from motor with gear puller
3) fit brass tube to the worm, trim tube and insert worm into 615 motor
4) insert geared bogie into chassis
5) solder thin copper wires to ungeared bogie. Wires must go through cuts into the chassis, screw ungeared bogie to chassis
6) slide 615 motor into its craddle
7) solder motor wires to the top of the geared bogie pick-up, here is how is should look like 8) reuse shorty ballast brick by gluing 2 under the roof of the shell and 1 under the chassis belly.
9) insert chassis into shell (tight fit)
additionally, if you want to use the bogie sides:

Re: Small CP train of Allentejo
See message I was writing while you inquired. It uses most components from a shorty. Not the motor though as this last was too thick to fit into the correctly scaled hood.AnderTrains hat geschrieben: Do 13. Aug 2026, 13:19 Thanks for your work.

Re: Small CP train of Allentejo
As requested by Joao, shells with cut windows for printing in colored resin.
However I do not advise to use them as the shells are weaken by the cuts and may warp during printing/curing.

BTW the CP 1100 was an adapted version of the GE drop-cab 47 tonner with low clearance cab,
Source https://www.thedieselshop.us/
that was developed for use in WW2 by the USATC during the European campaign. It was used in UK, France, Netherlands and some also got into Germany.
All 47 tonners were shipped back to US at the end of the war. Together with the 47 tonners, the USATC brought to France also ten 75 tonners.
Unlike the 47 tonners these all remained in France after the war. Some are still in use.
The 47 tonners of Portugal were specifically produced. The adaptation to Iberian gauge caused the ladders to be moved on the bogie pivot area (otherwise they would prevent the rotation of the wider bogies) and the further distancing of the buffers.
It is the reason why I kept

Re: Small CP train of Allentejo
Thanks for the additional historical info, Gianfranco. That's very interesting. I didn't know that these were WW2 US workhorses.
Yeah, our 1668mm gauge always gave some headaches when it concerns to standard-gauge equipment.
