Hello Siggi,

Unfortunately, I don't have Freudenreich Ommu 33 car, therefore, I don't know exact answer. But I can tell you the size of my load insert for Märklin Omm 52 - it is 38.3 x 10.9 mm. If you have Ommu 33 from Freudenreich, you can measure inner size with caliper and compare it with dimensions I provided.

However, I avoid making any kinds of "universal" load inserts even for the cars which look to have a similar size, as it will bring incompatibility issues in most cases. One of important features of my load inserts is exact size - the load goes freely into the car without any rework and don't have gaps at the same time. Even if my load insert for Omm 52 will fit into Ommu 33 at least visually, I cannot guarantee that the standards I mentioned above will be met.

Greetings,
Alex

Hi friends,

Here is an important info for those who would like to add my load inserts to E 037 and Omm 52 2-axle freight cars. Please I ask to check the type of the car to choose correct load insert! Although E 037 freight car mentioned on Wikipedia only once, and both Omm 52 and E 037 designations refer to the same type of the freight car: https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/G%C3%BCte ... Bundesbahn, Märklin claims that E 037 (8622) and Omm 52 (86237) are different types:
https://www.maerklin.de/en/products/det ... ticle/8622
https://www.maerklin.de/en/products/det ... icle/86237
However, 8622 car feature both numbers "E037" and "Omm 52" printed on the sides. All this can be confusing to someone. In order to distinguish load inserts for these two different types of freight cars, I marked 8622 type as E 037 and 86237 type as Omm 52. Please note that load inserts for these two freight cars have different lengths and not compatible with each other.

E 037 load inserts are suitable only to the following models/sets:
8204, 8622, 80829, 81780, 81860, 82509, 86225, 88623

Omm 52 load inserts are suitable only to the following models/sets:
82041, 86237, 86238

I created an illustration on how to distinguish these freight cars and I ask to refer to this info before ordering load inserts for them:

Hello Alex,
the dimensions of 46mm and 54mm you mentioned refer to the length over the buffers, not over the coupling!

the shorter car is a redesign of the old 8622 car which had the standard chassis and was far to long.
So the new 86237 car has the more correct proportions.
But they have the same prototype of Omm52, which was changed later to E037.

Hi friends,

Along with replenishment of many sold out items, I added new types of loads. As was previously announced, I developed a load insert for the type OOt 4-axle hopper car, also known as Kohlentrichterwagen from I-II Era. Märklin produced this freight car in two variants – 82390 and 82391.

Specific shape of the wagon's body forced me to experiment with different variants; I tried to make base plates from the sheet plastic on CNC milling machine, but results did not satisfy me, so I decided to make the base for the load insert from etched metal. I used 0.3 mm brass for this. Precisely designed shape allows the load insert to fit into the wagon perfectly, without jamming and looseness at the same time. Additionally, the base is sprayed with black lacquer paint.

Considering that Kohlentrichterwagen were mainly used to transport coal, I prepared only two types of loads at the moment – coal and ore. Other kinds of loads for this type of wagon are available upon request.

Once again, I would like to point out that one of important advantages of the most types of my load inserts is possibility of putting the car into the packaging box without removing the load. It is true for Kohlentrichterwagen load too:

I decided not to ignore one more type of rolling stock – US hopper car that was available from Märklin as a part of 81830, 81835, 82499, 82590 and 82591 sets. A wide range of different types of bulk loads available here:

Greetings to all,

I would like to let everyone know that I added some new types of load inserts – for type Fcs and Otm 2-axle hopper cars. Adding loads to these types of rolling stock was a challenging task due to their specific construction. I experimented with different variants; finally, I chose a metal base as the variant that fits most.

Once again, the idea was to keep the height of the load inserts within prototypical limits, without adding too high “hills” on the top of the cars. It turned out to be possible only when using metal parts bent in a special way.

Type Fcs hoppers feature some imitation of the load already from the factory – it is a piece of metal which also serves as additional weight. However, it does not look good and can be improved. I managed to achieve a prototypical look and ability to put the car to the packaging box without any problems at the same time. Here are some samples:

Metal base of the load insert was made of 0.3 mm etched brass and airbrushed with high quality lacquer paint (black for dark bulk loads, such as coal, ore, gravel; beige for light loads – sand and limestone).

There is one important point to consider either: some Fcs cars show strong deformation of the body due to the aging of the plastic – inner edges of the top of the car become bent towards the center. This makes installation of the load insert a bit more complex. In this case, please I ask to insert the load insert very carefully in order not to damage it, possibly using two pieces of paper that will be removed after, either another careful way.

Please understand that making the load insert narrower just to fit into the old bent hoppers was not the best solution, as there would be visible gaps between the load insert and the edge of the body in new cars with straight edges.

At last, it is worth mentioning that these load inserts are compatible only with open top type Fcs freight cars; they are not suitable to the type TD/TDS freight cars with hinged roofs.

Here is a small installation tip:
