Hi friends,

I have just found an interesting video that raised a couple of questions:

1. What is the purpose of these "passenger" cars with "a lot of windows"? And why were all the windows removed? Or were the cars without windows originally?
2. What is the purpose of a flashing beacon on the roof of a pushing locomotive? Priority in traffic? I understand the purpose of beacons on the rescue or service road vehicles, but what is the point of using them on railroad, where everything is controlled by signals and turnouts? Is it just a kind of additional safety?

Hi Alex,

1.
the grey coaches were once Exbition Cars. Märklin produced a H0 model off them:


They were converted from baggage coaches when the DB hardly used any baggage coaches in long-distance traffic.

2.
Shunting mode. MEG is also active in internal transport. Flashing is common on such locomotives. Like there were used at steel mills, chemical plants or other large enterprises that are often not open to the public and have internal rail transport.

It might be that those beacons mark a currently remotely controlled engine when the Train Driver is not on the loco but on the leading car.

Hi Alex,

when I think of the known uses, they were relatively rare anyway...
There are also rebuild exhibition coaches based on the former Bduu bicycle coaches. These have a large door for loading on each side aof the coach as an advantage.

Die beiden Wagen im Original können Teile des ehemaligen Wissenschaftszugs sein.
Der Zug wurde im Dezember 2009 vor meiner Haustür abgestellt. Es erfolgten einige Arbeiten. Und dann hörte ich vom Personal, dass die Wagen für einen Verkauf nach China vorgesehen waren.

The two cars in the original can be parts of the former science train.
The train was parked at my doorstep in December 2009. There were some works.
And then I heard from the staff that the cars were for sale to China.

Ich glaube nicht, dass so ein Bau in Spur Z einfach umsetzbar wäre! Dabei ist das Verschließen der Fensterfront sicher
noch das Einfachste!
Das Design ist dann aber schon schwieriger darzustellen!

I do not believe that such a construction in Spur Z would be easy to implement! The closing of the window front is safe
even the simplest!
The design is then more difficult to portray!

But I have photographed in any case all car numbers!

warum sollte das nicht gehen? Decal-Folie drauf und fertig würde ich mal meinen...
Was sollte daran schwieriger sein, als an Werbelokomotiven:

siehst Du die Decals auch "einfach" um die Ecken ohne Falten?
