Hi friends,

I added some new types of loads. Here are two different types of wood loads for type SNPS 4-axle double-stacked car. These load inserts are made of carefully hand-picked thin natural wooden twigs reliably joined together with invisible glue and fastened with thin metal etched stripes painted in dark gray and orange. Load inserts feature limiters on the bottom side to prevent the load from sliding.

List of compatible articles: Märklin 8226, 8655, 81098-21, 81410, 81861, 82500, 82516, 82599, 86551, 86552, 98107

Next, here is a range of various bulk loads for type Eosakrt containers from "Von Haus zu Haus" program. These loads come in 3-piece kits, carefully packed into separate sachets for additional safety:

Hi friends,

I developed unique load inserts – imitation of molten iron and slag for two types of Märklin Z scale metallurgical cars, ladle and slag ones offered in 86210, 86211, 86212, 86213 and 86214 sets. It was quite difficult to find a suitable method for implementation of such idea, but after numerous experiments, I came to the desired results.

3 mm black polystyrene precisely cut on CNC machine is used as a base for these loads. It was a bit difficult to do a “reverse-engineering” of these unusual cars due to a conical shape of the ladles (one of which has also an irregular oval shape when viewed from the top), but after a number of precise measurements, I got perfect results – without any visible gaps.

The next challenge was to figure out how to simulate a lava-like surface – which should not be too flat and too rough at the same time. Realistic coloring was also a big question. Once again, after some tryouts, I found a combined solution.

First, the base was covered with a thin layer of fine grade orange sand stabilized with thinned glue. Then I decided to use an unusual approach I never used in my load inserts before – to print a full-color image of molten iron directly onto the surface using UV-printing technology, as it was very difficult to achieve any realistic results manually.

Some years ago, I was on a tour at a metallurgical plant for the purpose of a photo report, where I managed to take a big number of unique pictures of crude iron in many different conditions. Among them, there was a photo of molten iron loaded into the ladle car – taken almost directly from above. I remember that it was rather dangerous task – surely, not because of the risk of falling down, but because of the very high temperature around the car, which did not even allow you to get anywhere close to it. I was able to make only few steps forward and stay there for not more than 3-4 seconds, taking a serial shooting with my camera, after which I quickly jumped back away. Here is one of these pictures:

Stahlwerk.jpg

I decided to use some pictures from this series for imitation of crude iron and slag in my load inserts. First test printouts already exceeded expectations – it was obvious to me that it would be impossible to do anything close to it manually. Very fine 1440 x 1200 dpi printing did not show any visible dots at all. Additionally, UV inks added some glossiness to the areas printed with maximal density, which increased realism further.

I used six different variants of pictures for each load insert, so it is likely that in most cases, customers will receive all loads with different images when ordering several of them together.

At the end, I airbrushed the load inserts using a semi-gloss clear lacquer for even better look and stabilization. Taking an opportunity of using UV-printer even more, I also printed text labels directly to the bottom side of the loads instead of applying stickers:

The loads are already available at 1zu220-shop.de at the following links:

ZM-MRK-SW-001 – Load insert for 4-axle crude iron ladle car (oval type), suitable for 86210, 86211, and 86213 sets:
https://www.1zu220-shop.de/Zmodell/Lade ... 43713.html

ZM-MRK-SW-002 – Load insert for 4-axle slag car (round type), suitable for 86210, 86212, and 86214 sets:
https://www.1zu220-shop.de/Zmodell/Lade ... 43714.html

Some tips on installation and removal:

To install: Carefully adjust the load insert in the horizontal position with hand or tweezers if needed. Don’t push the load insert inside too strongly, otherwise it can get stuck in the ladle.

To remove: Release the load insert by gentle shaking the ladle upside down, either with a help of a needle or sharp tweezers.

I noticed that the first batch was already sold out at the time of posting this report. Nevertheless, anyone interested can place pre-orders; I will produce the next batch as quick as I can.

Greetings,
Alex

Greetings to all,

I am happy to announce that after a long pause caused by a terrible disaster in my country, I managed to prepare the next delivery that was recently arrived to 1zu220-shop.de. All steps of production process are still carried out in Ukraine. At the moment, only packaging, designing and printing labels can be done on my own here in Germany.

In this delivery, I restocked as much sold out items as possible. I also added many new types of load inserts for new kinds of rolling stock. Here is a list of new items. First of all, I added new load inserts for types of freight cars that already exist in my product range:

Wood load insert for type E 037 2-axle freight car:
Bild
https://www.1zu220-shop.de/Zmodell/Lade ... 44989.html

Metal scrap load insert for type E 037 2-axle freight car:

https://www.1zu220-shop.de/Zmodell/Lade ... 44990.html

Metal scrap load insert for type Omm 52 2-axle freight car:
Bild
https://www.1zu220-shop.de/Zmodell/Lade ... 45008.html

It is worth to mention once again, that each load with metal scrap is unique – it is not a piece of cast resin or 3D printing, each load is assembled manually using separate parts and pieces.

Now I would like to describe the following load inserts in more details. After development wood loads for certain types of rolling stock, it became clear to me that it is worth adding the same loads to remaining freight cars. I was inspired by high-detailed loads with stacked construction wood which ca be usually found in larger scales like H0 or 1, and I decided to implement similar loads in Z scale.

I used high-grade veneer sheets to create imitation of wooden construction planks. Then I assembled them to the blocks and tied with thin synthetic ropes. Now the question came regarding how to fix them on flatcars. For this, I developed floor plates with imitation of planks, hooks, hinges and hatches for many different types of flatcars. Floor plates were made from thick 0.3 mm photo-etched nickel silver and airbrushed using prototypical colors.

After this, I carefully fixed stacks of wooden planks on the plates (1 or 2 pieces, depending the size of flatcar).

I was so satisfied with the quality and level of details of new stacked wood blocks that I decided to offer them also separately. They can be used a load for trucks, as well as for furnishing dioramas, construction sites, warehouses and so on.

Joachim, thank you very much! Actually, most of these new products were already produced shortly before war - I managed to receive them here in Germany and deliver to Jörg only now. As I already mentioned above, all production process still takes place in Ukraine - the only difference is that now I have to control most production stages remotely, and shipping costs now became higher.

Hi friends,

I would like to inform that I added one more type to the wide range of my load inserts, truly the smallest one ever. Here is it - various load inserts with bulk materials for type Eosakrt-pa "Von Haus zu Haus" containers. Like their slightly bigger "brothers" for Eosakrt, these smaller ones come in 3-piece sets, feature small label on the bottom side and carefully packed into separate sachets for additional safety.

This kind of containers exists only in a single set from Märklin - 82329. Probably, some more variations will be added in the future too.

Many other types of load inserts were restocked; another part of sold out articles will be available once again in the nearest upcoming days.

It is worth noting that everything is still being produced in Kiev, Ukraine - with invaluable help of my friends and colleagues who are still try to keep everything in order, despite constant shelling, frequent power outage and other signs of continuing disaster. Thus, buying most of my articles without any doubts helps them to stay at least a little bit safer, a little more confident.

Best regards,
Alex
